Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Representative Donald McEachin for re-election in Virginia’s 4th Congressional District.
“LCV Action Fund is proud to endorse Representative McEachin for re-election because he has been a leader in the fight for climate and environmental justice,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He is a champion for America’s clean energy future and an invaluable voice for the communities hit hardest by pollution and climate change. We need his bold vision in Congress now more than ever.”
“Donald McEachin was an environmental champion in the Virginia House of Delegates and State Senate,” said Virginia League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Mike Town. “We have been proud to see his leadership in Congress and look forward to our continued partnership in the fight to combat climate change and make Virginia a clean energy leader.”
“I am very proud to have this endorsement,” said Representative Donald McEachin. “The environment may well be the critical issue of our generation. Addressing climate change and its commensurate ills – more extreme temperatures, rising sea levels, stronger storms – is critical to our children and grandchildren’s future. We also need to resolve environmental justice issues where all too many toxic waste sites, landfills and unhealthy air and water are located in low income, minority, and rural communities. I will continue to partner with LCV to make our world safer, healthier and with a bright future.”
Since his time in the Virginia state legislature, where he co-founded the Virginia Environment and Renewable Energy Caucus, Representative Donald McEachin has been a leader in the fight for climate action. He has proven that he’s a committed advocate for the communities most impacted by climate change as a co-founder of the United for Climate and Environmental Justice Task Force. He has spoken out against the Trump administration’s attacks on our clean air and clean water and has introduced legislation to require federal agencies to fully consider the impact of climate pollutants on our health and environment. He has advocated for public lands and supported legislation to permanently reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). Representative McEachin has earned an 89% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
