Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Mary Barzee Flores for Congress in Florida’s 25th Congressional District.
“LCV Action Fund is excited to endorse Mary Barzee Flores for Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “South Florida needs a representative who will tackle its biggest challenges, from climate change to the pollution that fuels red tide and toxic algae blooms. Barzee Flores is committed to standing up to polluting special interests, allocating critical resources to protect communities from sea level rise, and making smart investments in Florida’s growing clean energy economy.”
“I’m so proud to have LCV Action Fund’s support in my race for Florida’s 25th congressional district,” said Mary Barzee Flores. “For far too long there have been far too many in power who have chosen to ignored the imminent threat of climate change, rising seas, and pollution. In Congress, I will fight for clean air and water in every community, and work with anyone in order to mitigate the dangers posed by man-made extreme weather disasters. I’ll take on the corporate polluters and anti-science politicians whose short sightedness and greed put us all in danger. In the fight for the safety and future of our planet, doing nothing is not an option.”
Mary Barzee Flores was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She attended the University of Miami where she studied music and went on to earn her law degree. After law school, she worked in private practice and then joined the federal Office of the Public Defender in Miami, where she worked for 12 years. In 2002, she won an open seat for a Florida Circuit Court Judgeship. She served on the Circuit Court for eight years before returning to private practice. In Congress, Barzee Flores will focus on protecting Florida communities from sea level rise and making the United States a global leader in innovating for a sustainable future.
