Washington D.C.- Following the Senate’s failure to invoke cloture on the Green New Deal resolution, the League of Conservation Voters released the following statement from Vice President of Government Affairs Sara Chieffo:

“With today’s vote, senators like Mitch McConnell and Mike Lee have shown us that they would rather focus on cynical political stunts — and velociraptors — than serious climate solutions.

“As communities across the country continue to feel the devastating impacts of wildfires, flooding, and extreme weather events fueled by climate change, the Majority Leader is refusing to even take this crisis seriously. We applaud Senator Schumer and the many other senators calling for ambitious climate solutions that meet the scale of the challenge that we face.”
