Washington, D.C. – In response to President Biden’s announcement that the U.S. will increase our international climate finance commitment, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) issued the following statement from President Gene Karpinski:

“As climate-fueled extreme weather rages across the planet, harming one in three Americans just this summer, it is critical that the United States is a global leader in the climate fight. We applaud the Biden Administration for building on their strong international commitment to fighting climate change by increasing support for climate finance around the world. Increasing the U.S.’ annual international climate finance commitment to $11.4 billion would help us support countries around the world meet our Paris Agreement goal of keeping temperatures from rising above 1.5 degrees Celsius.”
