Washington, D.C. — Following the release of Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s Mobilizing America to Combat Climate Change plan and Senator Kamala Harris’ Climate Plan For the People, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) issued the following statements from SVP of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld:

“Senator Harris’ record on fighting for justice and holding polluters accountable shines through in this plan, which sets goals for 100 percent carbon-neutral power in ten years and a 100 percent clean, net-zero climate pollution economy by 2045. We appreciate her focus on creating good-paying clean energy jobs; building climate-smart infrastructure to reduce pollution and keep our communities safe and healthy; ending subsidies for fossil fuels; and passing her Clean School Bus Act, related to our Chispa program’s Clean Buses for Healthy Niños campaign.

“As Mayor, Buttigieg has advocated for clean energy, clean transportation, and more resilient and sustainable communities, and as a veteran, he is a strong voice for the addressing the climate crisis as a threat to national security. His climate plan would create three million high-paying clean energy and infrastructure jobs over ten years; renew and increase our pollution reduction goals under the Paris Climate Agreement; establish Next-Generation Regional Resilience Hubs to help communities prepare for and mitigate the impacts of climate change; and ensure frontline and indigenous communities benefit from the clean energy transition.

“The climate crisis must be a top priority for the next president and we look forward to hearing ten of the candidates make their case tonight.”
