The following letter was sent to the full U.S. Senate Thursday evening urging all senators to support H.R. 5746, the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act, and all procedural measures necessary to its immediate passage.

The LCV-led letter was signed by 12 leading national environmental groups: Clean Water Action, Climate Hawks Vote, Corazón Latino, Friends of the Earth Action, Greenpeace USA, Interfaith Power & Light, League of Conservation Voters, National Wildlife Federation Action Fund, NRDC Action Fund, Sierra Club, The Wilderness Society, and Union of Concerned Scientists.

The green group letter followed an unprecedented joint announcement earlier Thursday from Black Voters Matter Fund, Collective PAC, End Citizens United // Let America Vote, Latino Victory Fund and the League of Conservation Voters that the groups will only consider endorsements for those who take all necessary measures to pass the key voting rights and pro-democracy measures currently being debated in the Senate.

LCV also sent a letter to the full U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday evening ahead of Thursday morning’s successful passage of H.R. 5746, the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act.
