Caroline Gleich

Caroline Gleich is a professional skier, mountaineer, and climate and environmental activist who will fight to protect our planet for future generations.

Gleich is the first woman and fourth athlete ever to ski all 90 lines of the Chuting Gallery, a series of skiing slopes in the Wasatch Mountains in Utah. She summited Mount Everest with her husband in 2019 in an effort to promote gender equality in sports. Her passion for the outdoors has also led her to vocally advocate for combating the climate crisis, protecting public lands, and advancing environmental justice. She has been active with Protect Our Winters, an organization for outdoor enthusiasts to combat climate change, and she testified in front of Congress in support of the American Public Lands and Waters Climate Solution Act of 2019. Gleich was honored as Climate Champion of the Year by Utah Clean Energy in 2021.

As a senator, Gleich will focus on protecting our environment and public lands, as well as working on the transition to a clean energy economy. She is the first woman to represent Utah in the U.S. Senate.

Gleich joins the U.S. Senate after defeating U.S. Representative John Curtis, who earned a 6% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard. She fills the seat of retiring Senator Mitt Romney, who earned a 17% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

[Quote]: “As a professional ski mountaineer, my passion for the outdoors has always gone hand-in-hand with my advocacy for the health of the planet and for environmental and social justice. I will be a strong advocate for addressing the climate crisis, protecting environmental justice communities, protecting our public lands and water, and ensuring that our government is representative of and accountable to the people.”- LCVAF Questionnaire
