In 2018, she was elected to the state Senate and in 2022, was elected by her colleagues to serve as the deputy majority leader. Randall sponsored bills including the Parks Health and Wellness Act and the Climate Ready Communities Act. In the 2024 legislative session she worked to increase funding for clean energy, drought and flood preparedness and approve the electrification of Washington’s school bus fleet.

As a representative, Randall will advocate for environmental equity and justice while centering the voices of those who will be most immediately impacted by climate change. In the state Senate, she earned a 97% lifetime score on Washington Conservation Action’s Legislative Scorecard. Randall is the first LGBTQ+ member of Congress from Washington, and the first LGBTQ+ Latina in Congress.

Randall joins the U.S. House to fill the seat of retiring Representative Derek Kilmer, who earned a 96% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

“Environmental justice cannot be delinked from health justice. To get to any of the outcomes that allow for true environmental and health justice, we must protect democracy and the right of eligible voters to exercise their rights, and remove barriers to participating in the legislative process and the work of governing.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
