Washington D.C. — In commemoration of President Barack Obama’s final day in office today, the League of Conservation Voters’ President Gene Karpinski released the following statement on his strong environmental legacy:

“Thank you President Obama! We’ve spent the last 10 days recognizing and remembering President Obama’s incredible environmental achievements—from conserving more land and water than any other president to making the largest investment in clean energy in history to the strongest safeguards ever for our air and water to taking on climate change by leading efforts to reduce carbon pollution at home and around the world. There is no doubt that our communities, our country and our planet are cleaner, healthier, and safer because of his outstanding leadership and vision. To say he will be missed in the Oval Office is a serious understatement, but we look forward to his continued advocacy on behalf of these and other issues and wish the First Family all the best in their next chapter.”
