NEW HAMPSHIRE —In response to the EPA’s release of the Clean Power Plan, Rob Werner, LCV New Hampshire State Director, issued the following statement:

“The Clean Power Plan is the single biggest step our country has ever taken to combat climate change and is a huge win for public health. These historic standards will ensure that big polluters can no longer spew an unlimited amount of carbon pollution into our air. The Clean Power Plan provides a flexible framework that empowers New Hampshire to craft our own solutions. In fact, this plan is based on the leadership of states like ours who have proven through the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) that we can reduce carbon pollution, protect public health and save consumers money all at the same time.”

“We are thrilled that Governor Hassan is embracing the opportunity presented by the Clean Power Plan, and I’m proud that New Hampshire continues to lead the fight to clean up our air and tackle climate change. The Clean Power Plan isn’t just good for our environment, but it’s also a tremendous opportunity for New Hampshire to improve our health, create jobs, and foster innovation in the clean energy economy.”
