Conservation Colorado just launched a new campaign calling on Sen. Gardner to oppose Trump’s nomination of William Perry Pendley to lead the Bureau of Land Management. The effort began this weekend with a full-page newspaper ad in the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel:

Subject: New effort – Sen. Gardner must oppose Pendley nomination
I wanted to be sure you saw that Conservation Colorado this morning launched a new effort urging Senator Cory Gardner to immediately announce his opposition to and eventually vote against William Perry Pendley — an extreme anti-public lands zealot — as President Trump’s nominee to lead the Bureau of Land Management.
As part of this effort, we:
While there is still no specific timeline for hearings and a vote on Pendley in the U.S. Senate, National Public Radio reports this morning that the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee — on which Senator Gardner serves — “received final documents and paperwork from the administration that were needed to hold a hearing.”
In case it’s helpful, here’s a quote from me that you are welcome to use:
“During the pandemic, Coloradans have shown more than ever before that they love our national parks and open spaces. So, our Congressional decision makers must stand up for Colorado’s lands and outdoor recreation values not just by voting yes on bills, but also by opposing radical political nominees who pose grave threats to the places that we hold dear. Senator Gardner must immediately announce his opposition to and vote no on the nomination of William Perry Pendley to lead the Bureau of Land Management.”
I’d be happy to chat in more detail about our efforts and why Pendley is the wrong choice for Colorado’s public lands.
Thanks so much,
Jessica Goad
