WASHINGTON, DC—The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Alma Adams for Congress (NC-12). Adams will grow our clean energy economy, protect our environment, and fight for action on climate change. 

“Over her 20 year tenure in the North Carolina General Assembly, Alma Adams has protected North Carolina’s rich natural resources and will bring this leadership to the halls of Congress,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “She’s committed to investing in renewable energy and energy efficiency, which will decrease our nation’s dependence on fossil fuels, save money, and create jobs.”  

“As a former Greensboro City Council member and a Member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, Alma Adams is a promising environmental advocate who is deeply familiar with our communities,” said Carrie Clark, Executive Director of the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters. “North Carolinians can trust she will protect the land and water that is so important to our way of life.”   

“As a vocal advocate for environmental protections in the North Carolina General Assembly, I am looking forward to continuing that advocacy in the Congress,” said Adams. “I will never back down from doing what is best for our environment and communities and I am honored to have the continued support from organizations like the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund.” 

Over the two decades Alma Adams has served in the North Carolina House of Representatives, she’s fought to protect the state’s natural resources and is committed to investing in our clean energy economy. In 2013, she earned a 100% rating on the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters Legislative Scorecard. Additionally, during North Carolina’s past legislative session, she co-sponsored legislation that would fund loans for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, and would also create incentives for customers to purchase Energy Star household products.  Her continued desire to focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency will not only fuel our clean energy economy but will also reduce our country’s reliance on the dirty fossil fuels that cause climate change.
