Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Representative Gwen Moore for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District.

“Representative Gwen Moore has fought tirelessly to support and promote legislation that enhances protections for the Great Lakes, our nation’s public lands, parks and forests, and clean air and water for healthy and safe communities,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to support Representative Moore, a climate and environmental justice champion, for re-election.”

“We are fortunate to have Representative Gwen Moore fighting for safe drinking water, clean air, and accessible public lands for Milwaukee and Wisconsin,” said Wisconsin Conservation Voters Executive Director Kerry Schumann. “We know we can count on Representative Moore to push back against polluters and fight for the health and safety of our families.”

“I am so honored to receive support from the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Representative Gwen Moore. “I will continue working hard to protect our planet and its resources, while fighting to secure environmental justice for our most marginalized communities.”

Representative Gwen Moore was elected to Congress in 2004, making her the first African-American woman in Wisconsin history to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. In March of 2019, Congresswoman Moore was named Co-Chair for the 2020 Democratic National Convention in her hometown of Milwaukee. In April of 2019, Congresswoman Moore was appointed Regional Vice-Chair for the DCCC by Chairwoman Cheri Bustos. Prior to 2019, Congresswoman Moore was elected Democratic Co-Chair of the Congressional Women’s Caucus by her fellow women Members of Congress. She served as Democratic Vice Chair from 2009 to 2011.  Moore is a member of the Great Lakes Task Force. She recently sponsored the Empowering Homeowners Energy Efficiency Act and the Promoting Sustainable Energy Projects for Tribal Communities Act, both of which were highlighted in the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis’s June 2020 report.
