Jun 12, 2018

Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Jane Raybould for U.S. Senate from Nebraska.

“Jane Raybould has been a sustainability leader in both the public and private sectors,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We need more people in Congress like her, who will take common sense steps to protect our air and our water. We know Jane Raybould will always stand up for Nebraskans’ health and natural resources and we are proud to endorse her campaign for United States Senate.”

“Jane Raybould understands that a healthy environment is essential to Nebraska’s agriculture economy,” said Nebraska League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Eliot Bostar. “She is committed to safeguarding livestock production while protecting clean water for families across the state. We look forward to continuing to work with Jane Raybould to protect Nebraska’s environment for future generations.”

“I’m honored to receive the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund endorsement for U.S. Senate,” said Jane Raybould. “Nebraskans deserve leadership in the Senate who will fight to protect our precious resources and environment for our kids, grandkids and future generations. As a businesswoman who leads sustainability efforts at our 19 grocery stores, I work diligently at implementing greener business practices, and in public office, I’m proud to have built coalitions and public-private partnerships to do the same. I understand firsthand the importance of finding and implementing practical, common-sense solutions that protect and preserve our natural resources while simultaneously saving our customers and stores money.”

Jane Raybould was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, and is a fourth-generation Nebraskan and second-generation grocer. She graduated from Creighton University and received her master’s degree from Georgetown University. Raybould currently serves as the vice president and director of buildings and equipment for B & R Stores, a company that was founded by her parents more than 53 years ago that now has 19 locations serving Nebraskans. She has led efforts to make B & R stores more sustainable by implementing a number of recycling and energy efficiency initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint of the stores. Raybould was elected to the Lancaster County Board in 2011 and in 2015, she was elected to the Lincoln City Council where she led the effort to launch the “Be a Recycling Champion” public education campaign which helped put the Recycle Lincoln Initiative on the ballot. In the Senate, Raybould will continue to champion smart sustainability solutions and fight for a healthy environment for all.
