Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Jim Himes for reelection in Connecticut’s 4th District.
“Jim Himes has made clean energy a top priority in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We can count on him to stand up to the Trump Administration’s radical attacks on our health and to champion smart investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency that will power our economy while protecting our environment. We are proud to endorse him for reelection.”
“I’m honored to have earned the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund endorsement,” said Congressman Jim Himes. “LCV’s work in advocating for our precious natural heritage and for action to combat climate change makes a difference every single day. In Connecticut, it is only careful and consistent stewardship that preserves the miracle of the Long Island Sound and our essential open and wild spaces. I will always fight for our public lands and clean air and water for ourselves and future generations.”
As a member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), Congressman Himes has been a strong voice for the environment, earning a 95 percent lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard. He is a vocal advocate for action on climate change and has consistently fought back against attacks on our nation’s bedrock environmental laws. Himes introduced legislation to establish a federal green bank that would encourage the development of clean energy and multiple bills to promote energy efficiency in housing, including advancing affordable housing projects within the Department of Housing and Urban Development. After Superstorm Sandy, Himes worked to secure funding to improve the resiliency of the Connecticut coastline. Himes has also secured funding to clean up hazardous waste sites and improve water quality in Connecticut and has supported conservation of the Long Island Sound.
