Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Joseph Kopser for Congress in Texas’ 21st District.
“Joseph Kopser served our country with honor and we know he will do the same in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to endorse his campaign because he is committed to investing in our clean energy economy and ensuring that every family in Texas has clean air to breathe and clean water to drink. He’s a scientist, an entrepreneur and a proven champion for moving our country to a greener future and creating new jobs that will support our families and communities.”
“I’ve been a ‘clean energy warrior’ since I served in Iraq and saw firsthand the human consequences of our dependence on foreign oil,” said Joseph Kopser. “Whether it was in the Army or in my business, I’ve spent my career working towards the clean energy solutions that are good for people, good for profits, and most importantly, good for our planet. Now I’m running for Congress in a district with incredible potential for jobs in wind and solar. I’m fighting to make Central Texas a leader in the renewable energy economy, and partners like the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund will help get us there.”
Joseph Kopser graduated from West Point, where he received a degree in aerospace engineering. Following West Point, he attended the U.S. Army’s Ranger School and was stationed at Fort Bliss. He later graduated from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and began teaching at West Point. In 2004, he volunteered to serve in Iraq, and he deployed again from October 2006-December 2007. Upon returning, he worked for two years at the Pentagon, serving as Special Assistant to the Army’s Chief of Staff. While at the Pentagon, Kopser wrote the algorithm for a commuter mobility app that would become his tech company, RideScout. For his work, he was named a White House Champion of Change by President Obama in 2013, and won the Department of Transportation’s Data & Innovation Award in 2014. His experience led him to co-found The Bunker Texas to help support veteran entrepreneurs. In Congress, he will focus on making Central Texas a clean energy leader.
