Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Kate Bolz for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District.

“Kate Bolz has been a strong ally for building Nebraska’s clean energy economy as a state senator and will continue to advocate for renewable energy jobs and sustainable agriculture,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to support her campaign because we know she will continue to champion climate action to protect Nebraska families in Congress.”

“Kate Bolz understands the threat the climate crisis has on the livelihoods of Nebraskans and we know she will continue to fight for a clean energy economy and create good-paying jobs,” said Nebraska Conservation Voters Executive Director Eliot Bostar. “She has been a champion and defender of renewable energy in Nebraska and will take that commitment with her to Washington.”

“I am thankful to receive the endorsement from the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund. I hear from Nebraskans every day whose livelihood has been impacted by the recent historic flooding across the district and want to see Congress take action on climate change,” said Kate Bolz. “I look forward to working with LCV in Congress to promote infrastructure investments to protect our communities from future flooding and encourage soil and water sustainability.”

Kate Bolz was raised on a family farm near Palmyra, Nebraska. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University and her Master’s in Social Work from University of Michigan. She served as the executive director of the Nebraska Association of Service Providers and as an adjunct professor at Nebraska Wesleyan University before being elected to represent South Central Lincoln in Nebraska’s unicameral legislature in 2013. As a state senator, Bolz serves as vice chair of the Appropriations Committee, a member of the Legislature’s executive board, and chair of the Economic Development Task Force. Bolz has been a strong voice for clean energy and clean water in the state legislature and as a candidate. She introduced legislation that would require Nebraska’s state investment officer to report on the volatility and risk associated with fossil fuel investments and begin the process of investing in clean energy, such as solar or wind.

About LCV Action Fund

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, the connected federal political action committee (PAC) of the League of Conservation Voters, works to elect leaders who stand up for a clean, healthy environment and to defeat anti-environment candidates who oppose climate action. Since the 1990 election cycle, LCVAF has helped elect and re-elect 90 U.S. Senators and 450 members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
