WASHINGTON, DC—The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Rep. Brad Schneider for re-election in Illinois’s 10th congressional district. In his first year in Congress, Rep. Schneider earned an impressive 96 percent on LCV’s 2013 National Environmental Scorecard, showing his commitment to preserving our environment, building a clean energy economy and protecting the Great Lakes.
“Congressman Brad Schneider has been a proven leader on the environment, fighting to preserve the Great Lakes for future generations, and working to protect the air we breathe and the water we drink,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “He has been a vocal supporter of the need to act on climate change, and we are proud to endorse Rep. Schneider for re-election. Congressman Schneider is committed to moving our nation towards a clean energy economy that will create jobs and build our middle class.”
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund today,” Schneider said. “The Great Lakes are a national treasure and an important part of our community. That’s why I’ve fought to safeguard our Great Lakes and protect our environment. I am committed to continuing to stand up for the Great Lakes, work to combat climate change and support sensible efforts to develop clean energy that will help our economy grow.”
The Great Lakes are an important part of Illinois’ heritage, and Schneider works hard to preserve it by advocating for funding for their restoration, and supporting policies that increase protection from invasive species. Rep. Schneider has also stood up to Big Oil by fighting to safeguard the Great Lakes from oil and gas drilling and potential oil spills in the area.
A member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), Rep. Schneider has advocated for more investment in clean energy and energy efficiency, including co-sponsoring legislation to expand energy-savings contracts between private businesses and the federal government.
Rep. Schneider is vocal about our need to protect our environment and address the climate crisis. He supports the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ability to protect our air and water by placing limits on the amount of dangerous carbon pollution power plants can spew into our air.
Rep. Brad Schneider earned a 96 percent on LCV’s 2013 National Environmental Scorecard. The non-partisan Scorecard is a nationally accepted yardstick used to rate members of Congress on environmental and clean energy issues. Based on key environmental votes in the House and Senate, it is often used by the media to quickly describe a Member’s record. For more information, visit https://scorecard.lcv.org.
