WASHINGTON, DC—The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Dan Maffei for re-election to Congress (NY-24). Representative Maffei’s dedication to American energy independence and public health make him a vital protector of our nation and environment.

As a member of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, Representative Maffei is committed to making America energy independent by growing our clean energy economy and increasing our energy efficiency. He promotes investment in renewable energy research and development – which will reduce our dependence on dirty fossil fuels and decrease harmful carbon pollution.  

Representative Maffei strives to safeguard America’s public health.  His focus on protecting our natural resources, in particular our clean air and water, ensures both Americans and our environment will remain healthy.  His determination to act on climate change and reduce our nation’s carbon pollution will help mitigate the negative health effects of air pollution. 

In 2012, LCV developed the Flat Earth Five program, which succeeded in defeating four climate change-denying incumbents in the House of Representatives.  Dan Maffei, who was endorsed by LCVAF, unseated former Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle, one of the Flat Earth Five members.   Representative Maffei has proven himself a strong ally for taking action on climate change, and has provided much needed environmental leadership in New York’s 24th district.
