Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Ron Kind for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District.

“Representative Ron Kind understands the importance of protecting our public lands and protecting our clean water for the health of our communities and the economy,”  said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are excited to support him for re-election because we know he will continue to take action on the climate crisis and fight for Wisconsin’s environment for future generations.”

“Representative Ron Kind has been an active protector of our public lands and environment in Congress,” said Wisconsin Conservation Voters Executive Director Kerry Schumann. “We know he will continue to fight for clean water and the Upper Mississippi River Basin.”

“Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District is one of the most beautiful places in our country. I’ve been fortunate to have lived here my whole life and be able to pass the same appreciation of this area down to my two sons,” said Representative Ron Kind. “It’s up to us to ensure that the bluffs and rivers that make the Third Congressional District home is protected for our future generations. I am proud to have the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund as I continue fighting for our natural resources, clean air and water, and climate action.”

Representative Ron Kind was first elected to Congress in 1996. As co-chair of the National Parks Caucus, Representative Kind has been active on issues around protecting our public lands and wildlife. He has introduced legislation to better fund maintenance for our national parks and public lands and protect wildlife from disease. Additionally, he introduced a bipartisan bill to help people find resources to test their drinking water for PFAS contamination. Kind previously served as a Special and County Prosecutor. He was a member of the House Natural Resources Committee from 1996 to 2010, and has been a leader on efforts to protect and restore the Upper Mississippi River, including authoring the Upper Mississippi River Basin Protection Act, supporting the National Wildlife Refuge System, and protecting wildlife – especially migratory birds – and for increased conservation to help small farmers. Kind has co-founded and co-chaired the Upper Mississippi Caucus, the Upper Mississippi River Basin Task Force, the National Parks Caucus and the Wildlife Refuge Caucus. Representative Kind has earned a 90% lifetime score and 97% on LCV’s 2019 National Environmental Scorecard.
