Washington D.C.The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Suzan DelBene for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Washington’s 1st Congressional District.

“Representative Suzan DelBene has been a strong advocate for public lands and Washington State’s outdoor economy by expanding research for green energy technology and fighting to keep offshore drilling from our coasts,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “She is committed to protecting the health of our planet and communities by tackling the climate crisis and growing our clean energy economy. We are proud to endorse her for re-election.”

“Representative Suzan DelBene understands the importance of addressing the climate crisis to protect the health of Washington families and our precious public lands,” said Washington Conservation Voters CEO Alyssa Macy. “In Congress, she has helped lead efforts to expand protections for the San Juan Islands, Alpine Lakes Wilderness, and Illabot Creek and we know she will continue this fight.”

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, especially during a time where our planet and environment face so many unprecedented threats,” said Representative Suzan DelBene. “Washington’s 1st Congressional District is home to some of our country’s most beautiful waterways, forests, and mountains, as well as our most fertile agricultural land. Safeguarding these precious natural resources is even more crucial while the Trump Administration pushes for drilling off our coast, proposes the elimination of federal funds for Puget Sound recovery and salmon restoration, and refuses to acknowledge the very real threat climate change poses. I look forward to continuing to work alongside LCV towards building a new green economy and finding innovative solutions for addressing climate change for our health and the health of future generations.”

Representative Suzan DelBene was first elected to Congress in 2012. She recently introduced the Resolution on the Environmental Goods Agreement, which removes tariffs on wind turbines, solar water heaters, bicycles, and other key environmental goods. As part of her “Suzan Shows Up” tour, she hosted a roundtable highlighting the importance of smart city practices, which can reduce pollution and create good-paying jobs. DelBene previously served as the state Revenue Director and as an executive in the tech industry. She has successfully worked to expand funding for clean energy research, helped introduce a bill to ban offshore drilling off the West Coast, and co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation to protect wildlife. Representative DelBene has earned a 95% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
