Washington, D.C.— In response to today’s speech by President Biden ahead of the third anniversary of the January 6 insurrection, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund released the following statement from Senior Director of Judiciary and Democracy Doug Lindner:
“We couldn’t agree more with President Biden that our democracy is on the ballot. Three years after MAGA insurrectionists tried to violently overthrow our democracy, we must meet the urgency of the moment and protect our freedoms by electing pro-democracy, pro-environment candidates up and down the ballot. Our elections are threatened not only by voter suppression, but also political violence, voter and election worker intimidation, extremist politicians and judges, and the spread of harmful disinformation about the integrity of our elections. We must elect leaders committed to passing strong voting rights legislation, confirming judges who will enforce it, and protecting our right to a free, fair, equitable, and just democracy for all, especially those who are historically excluded from the electoral process in communities of color and communities with low wealth.”
About LCV Action Fund
The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, the connected federal political action committee (PAC) of the League of Conservation Voters, works to elect leaders who stand up for a clean, healthy environment and to defeat anti-environment candidates who oppose climate action. Since the 1990 election cycle, LCV Action Fund has helped elect and re-elect 95 U.S. Senators and 481 members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
