Washington, D.C.– The League of Conservation Voters announces Sara Schreiber as the new Senior Vice President of Campaigns, succeeding Pete Maysmith who was recently named the new president of the League of Conservation Voters.
“As threats against our environment and democracy continue to mount, we are thrilled to have Sara, a true campaigns and mobilization pro, joining LCV,” said Pete Maysmith, President of the League of Conservation Voters. “President Trump and the Republican Congress have launched a full-on attack against the common-sense policies and safeguards that lower energy costs, create family-sustaining jobs, and protect the air we breathe and water we drink. Sara’s experience packs a one-two punch–she’s a savvy political strategist who knows the national landscape, has worked with key national and state organizations, and is deeply connected to voter education and turnout. As we look to make sure those who voted for the Big Ugly Bill hear from their constituents in the coming months and look ahead to the 2026 Midterm elections, her expertise in large-scale engagement and voter mobilization will be invaluable.”
“I am thrilled to join the team that has been on the frontlines of defending climate progress and making strides toward a clean energy future, both nationally and in the states,” said Sara Schreiber, incoming Senior Vice President of Campaigns at the League of Conservation Voters. “The League of Conservation Voters plays a crucial role in protecting our environment for future generations and working to improve the quality of life of all Americans. I grew up in the West and have seen firsthand the impact that climate change is having in our communities — from rising energy costs to wildfires and extreme weather. I have also seen the long-term economic opportunities we can create if we tackle these challenges head on. I can’t wait to hit the ground running to build on LCV’s work by leading impactful campaigns across the country.”
Sara Schreiber has spent her career on the forefront of elections and most recently was the Chief of Staff on the Biden-Harris/Harris-Walz campaign. Prior to joining the campaign Sara was the Executive Director at America Votes, where she helped transform the organization into the largest coordinator and funder of voter mobilization programs in the country. Under her leadership, America Votes developed voter registration and turnout programs, broadened the organization’s partner base, and made unprecedented investments in voter outreach.
Since 1970, LCV has grown into a potent political force for protecting our planet and everyone who inhabits it. As part of the Conservation Voter Movement (CVM), LCV and our network of over 30 state LCVs work together to make change at all levels of government. Over the years, LCV’s strategy has grown into a sophisticated, multi-pronged approach involving influencing policy, working with and holding elected officials accountable, and making some of the biggest investments in elections up and down the ballot.
LCV has a robust campaigns program that encompasses both electoral and non-electoral work. Over the years the Climate Action organizing program has focused on building and training activists to fight for climate and environmental justice, while also developing deep and equitable partnerships with progressive partners. While the LCV Victory Fund made their largest-ever investment in the 2024 election cycle, spending nearly $164 million in races up and down the ballot. Their efforts helped elect and re-elect 129 pro-climate, pro-democracy U.S. House candidates, holding the Republican majority to its lowest seat margin in decades.
