Washington, D.C. – After the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee passed Senator Lisa Murkowski’s bill to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge that will be packaged with the GOP’s tax plan, League of Conservation Voters Deputy Legislative Director Alex Taurel released the following statement:

“Senator Murkowski’s bill to turn one of our wildest places into an oil field is nothing more than a long-sought payout for Big Oil. This plan is built on phony revenue numbers, questionable demand and dangerous environmental waivers. But instead of considering real solutions that could raise revenue – like closing tax loopholes for mining and oil companies – Senate Republicans today reaffirmed their true motivations: pushing through a favor for their industry friends.”
