Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates House candidates Nikema Williams (GA-05), Lucy McBath (GA-06), and Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07) on their victories in Georgia and we look forward to the two runoff races for Senate candidates Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.
“The victories in Georgia show that voters all over this country are demanding an equitable and just transition to a clean energy economy,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “LCV is thrilled to work with these climate and environmental justice champions in Congress as we work together to ensure a healthier and safer future for all communities in Georgia.”
LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program turned out LCV members to volunteer with the Biden, Warnock, Ossoff, McBath, and Bourdeaux campaigns as part of a nationwide field program to help elect environmental champions that engaged nearly 2,600 LCV members.
Environmental donors contributed nearly $1.1 million to Georgia candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund, NextGen America and the NRDC Action Fund PAC that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a record $43 million for the 2020 cycle.
LCV Action Fund endorsed Warnock, Ossoff, Williams, McBath, and Bordeaux because of their commitments to renewable energy and climate action.
These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
