Washington, D.C. – Today, Hillary Clinton was announced as the winner of the 2016 Democratic Presidential Primary Caucus in Iowa, the first contest of the 2016 presidential race.
“The League of Conservation Voters congratulates Hillary Clinton on this key early win and looks forward to continuing to champion her climate and clean energy plans on the road to the White House,” said Gene Karpinski, president of the League of Conservation Voters. “We’re thrilled that Hillary has been calling out climate science deniers on the campaign trail. Last month, the League of Conservation Voters released a digital ad in support of her campaign that contrasts Clinton’s leadership on climate change with those deniers as exemplified by Donald Trump.”
In November, LCV Action Fund endorsed Hillary Clinton for president—its earliest endorsement of a presidential candidate in the history of the organization and the first endorsement ever made before any votes are cast. In December, the League of Conservation Voters last month launched a grassroots program, GreenRoots, to mobilize its members as volunteers for Hillary ahead of the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary.
