We look forward to working together in the 119th Congress and beyond to continue making progress on addressing the climate crisis and protecting our democracy.

“Californians voted to protect public lands and take bold climate action,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “We are thrilled to continue working with California’s leaders to not only continue to preserve the Golden State’s natural treasurers and access to clean air and water, but also to build a clean energy economy that lowers costs and protects our future.”

LCV Victory Fund spent over $1.5 million to defeat Rep. Mike Garcia and to elect George Whitesides, which included a field program and a paid digital program with EDF Action Votes that focused on Latino and Hispanic voters with English and Spanish ads. LCV Victory Fund also spent more than $1.4 million to elect Derek Tran and defeat Dirty Dozen member Rep. Michelle Steel with a field program and digital paid media program that included Spanish and bilingual (English/Spanish) ads and a direct mail program. Additionally, LCV Victory Fund invested $1.2 million to elect Dave Min and defeat Scott Baugh, which included a field investment and a digital ad campaign in partnership with EDF Action Votes and NRDC Action Votes. Lastly, LCV Victory Fund also invested nearly $450,000 to reelect Rep. Mike Levin and to defeat Matt Gunderson, which included a digital ad program. All spending in these races also included a GOTV Mobilization program in partnership with Priorities USA Action to turnout young voters and voters of color. LCV Victory Fund’s large-scale on the ground organizing program supporting George Whitesides, Derek Tran and Dave Min and knocked on over 230,000 doors from September to Election Day.

LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program turned out LCV members to volunteer for the Tran and Min campaigns as part of a nationwide field program to help elect environmental champions that engaged 10,000 total LCV members.

GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates including in California — raised a record $58.5 million for the 2024 cycle.

These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in California, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
