Washington, D.C. — Today, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is celebrating National Voter Registration Day, encouraging voters around the country to register to vote and reaching people through email, social media, and other in person and online organizing efforts across the country. “The stakes for our democracy and our rights, including our right to vote and to free and fair elections, are higher than ever,” said LCV Senior Director of Civic Engagement Hilda Nucete. “LCV is committed to ensuring eligible voters have the freedom to vote, especially in communities of color, who have been historically excluded from the ballot box. This National Voter Registration Day, we’re thrilled to continue our multi-state nonpartisan efforts to reach eligible voters in Black, Indigenous, and Latine communities at schools, naturalization ceremonies, farmers markets, bus stops, and wherever voters are.”
LCV and partner organizations around the country are continuing to register voters ahead of the 2024 election, so far registering over 248,000 eligible voters in historically disenfranchised communities across the country towards a goal of 300,000 voter registrations in 2024 through field efforts, with an additional 150K through mail and digital efforts. LCV has collected forms from voters in all 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
LCV’s nonpartisan civic engagement efforts aim to strengthen community engagement in the electoral process and help ensure more eligible voters can participate in and be equitably represented in our democracy.
