LCV on the EPA’s Bristol Bay Watershed Assessment

Jan 15, 2014

WASHINGTON, DC – League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld released this statement on the Environmental Protection Agency’s watershed assessment of the impacts of the proposed Pebble Mine on Alaska’s Bristol Bay:

“The EPA got it right and confirms what we already know. The Pebble Mine would produce up to 10 billion tons of toxic waste and could devastate Alaska’s salmon industry, the environment, and the way of life for the people of Bristol Bay. The EPA should use its authority under the Clean Water Act to finally reject this dangerous project once and for all.”
