WASHINGTON DC-In anticipation of House passage of H.R. 953, the “Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act of 2017,” more aptly called the “Poison Our Waters Act,” LCV Legislative Representative Madeleine Foote released the following statement:

“Different Congress, same tired bill that only helps the chemical industry and hurts everyone who depends on clean drinking water. Despite proponents’ attempts to mislead the public, they are simply trying to take away our right to know when pesticides are sprayed into our waterways. Over the five years the General Permit program has been in place, there have been no complaints to the EPA about being unable to address health threats like the Zika virus or harm to farmers. House Republican leadership should stop trying to solve problems that don’t exist and instead focus on better protecting our health and safety.”
