WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tomorrow, the U.S. House is expected to vote on H.R. 2042. Rep. Whitfield’s bill undermines the EPA’s Clean Power Plan, which would put in place the first nationwide limits on the power plant carbon pollution. In anticipation of the full House vote on H.R. 2042, LCV Vice President of Government Affairs, Sara Chieffo issued the following statement:
“This legislation is in lockstep with the polluter-backed “just say no” approach to climate change. This bill strikes at a central pillar of the Clean Air Act, threatening the health of our families and gutting the EPA’s Clean Power Plan, which is the most important step our nation has have ever taken to combat climate change by setting commonsense limits on power plant carbon pollution. While the Pope is urging the world to act on climate change, and the administration is making critical progress, we urge Members of Congress to vote against this irresponsible legislation and stand with the American people, not polluters.”
