Washington, D.C. – Tonight, the Democratic presidential candidates met for a debate in Flint, Michigan. In response, LCV National Press Secretary Seth Stein issued the following statement:
“Tonight, we heard more substantive discussion of environmental issues in the first eleven minutes than in the last eleven Republican debates. We commend Hillary Clinton for calling for this debate to be held in Flint, which clearly shone a spotlight on critically important issues like environmental justice, clean water and climate change. Hillary committed to providing the people of Flint the aid they need, and presented her plans to prevent a crisis like this from happening again. She has made it clear that she will lead on climate and clean energy as well as work hard to prevent crises like the one in Flint and other communities by bringing people together and breaking down barriers instead of dividing people and building roadblocks.”
