Washington, DC: The League of Conservation Voters President, Gene Karpinski, issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s new executive order directing the Federal government to cut carbon pollution and increase use of renewable energy sources.
“President Obama is again proving that he is committed to meeting the climate change challenge head-on. As the biggest energy consumer in the country, the Federal government is well-positioned to lead by example as it reduces carbon pollution and energy waste while increasing the use of clean energy. By enlisting some of the country’s biggest companies in this announcement as well, the President is showing that moving forward with clean energy and energy efficiency is not just the right thing to do, it is good for business’ bottom line.”
