LCV Statement on Hillary’s Speech in Warren

Aug 11, 2016

Washington, DC – In response to Hillary’s speech today in rebuttal to Trump’s speech yesterday at his rally in Abingdon, VA, LCV National Campaigns Director Clay Schroers issued the following statement:

“Two days on the campaign trail in a nutshell – between outrageous and offensive statements, Trump takes time to dig dirty, outdated coal– meanwhile Hillary talks about a clean energy future. Today Hillary gave smart, thoughtful proposals to turn our nation into a clean energy super power, creating jobs, protecting public health, and combatting climate change. Yesterday, in a parallel universe, Trump incoherently rambled and showed a complete ignorance of the market forces leading to coal’s decline – pretty striking for a self-proclaimed business leader. With this total disconnect from economic reality, coupled with claims that climate change is a hoax and plans to slash regulations so corporations get a free hand to pollute our air and water, Trump is showing the American people who he really is: a snake-oil salesman who is taking advantage of people’s fears for his own personal gain.”
