WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to nearly 200 countries reaching an agreement to phase out super pollutant hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) under the Montreal Protocol, LCV president Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:
“Another week, another historic breakthrough in our fight to tackle climate change. The agreement reached early this morning by the international community to phase down hydrofluorocarbons under the Montreal Protocol marks a critical step in our fight to tackle climate change. This continues the strong global momentum for climate action, building off of the rapid entry into force of the Paris agreement, neither of which would have been possible without President Obama and the United States’ leadership.”
