LCV Statement on New Ozone Standard

Oct 1, 2015

Washington, DC – In response to EPA’s new limit for smog-causing ozone at 70 parts per billion down from 75 parts per billion, League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski released the following statement:

“While an improvement over the current woefully inadequate smog standard, this final rule falls short of what is truly needed to adequately protect the health of vulnerable populations, like children, asthmatics and those who work and play outside. No doubt big polluters will continue to spend millions on misleading ad campaigns and use every tool they have to get their allies in Congress to block this clean air standard. We will continue to fight back against those attacks while pushing for standards that fully protect the health of all of our communities.”
