Washington, DC – Today, as Pope Francis addressed a joint session of Congress, LCV President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:

“It is truly inspiring to witness Pope Francis discuss our shared moral obligation to fight climate change and protect the environment. We could not agree more when Pope Francis says ‘Now is the time for courageous actions and strategies, aimed at implementing a culture of care and an integrated approach to combating poverty, restoring dignity to the excluded, and at the same time protecting nature.’ We urge all members of Congress to embrace Pope Francis’ call to action.”
