WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Pope is releasing an encyclical on the moral imperative to combat climate change. In response, LCV President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:

“The Pope has demonstrated tremendous leadership by elevating the conversation on one of the most important issues of our time: climate change. There is a moral imperative to put forward a meaningful plan of action on climate change by world leaders, not only for the health of our families, but for the millions of people around the world who will be displaced by rising seas and unpredictable weather patterns. This is a prudent wakeup call that we are all responsible for preserving the earth for generations to come.”
