WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA) was quoted in a CQ Roll Call story saying that the EPA Clean Water Rule, “In the farming community, which both Republicans and Democrats represent, this is as popular as the plague, as popular as ISIS. This is not popular at all.”
In response, LCV Legislative Representative Madeleine Foote issued the following statement:
“Not only is Representative Calvert’s statement on the Clean Water Rule is wildly inappropriate, it’s also incorrect. The rule enjoys the support of over 80% of Americans, and a recent letter in support of these clean water safeguards had the backing of several farmer groups as well. It is absurd to compare something that will protect the drinking water of one-in-three Americans with a brutal terrorist organization.”
