LCV Statement on Senate Passage of Pro-Polluter Budget Resolution

Apr 5, 2025

Washington, D.C. — In response to last night’s Senate votes on the partisan Republican Budget Resolution , the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) issued the following statement from Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, Tiernan Sittenfeld:

“While Trump’s trade war is putting the economy in a tailspin, Senate Republicans are focused on increasing energy costs on hardworking people and cutting basic environmental protections — all just to cut taxes for billionaires and corporate polluters. Instead of protecting the health and safety of our communities, Trump’s allies in the Senate voted against efforts to ban the sell-off of our public lands to pay for tax cuts for billionaires , voted against supporting disaster relief efforts, and voted against protecting federal employees collective bargaining rights, among other critically important programs that help millions of people across the country.

This fight is far from over — we will keep working to defeat this dangerous partisan attack that harms families, workers, and public lands, funds attacks on immigrant communities and communities of color, and pads the pockets of billionaires and Big Polluters at the expense of everyday people.”
