WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to the signing of the international Paris climate agreement today, LCV president Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:

“It is fitting that today’s historic signing of the Paris agreement, by a record number of countries on opening day, is on the celebration of Earth Day. It shows the unprecedented momentum building for global action on climate. Around the world, countries are going full-steam ahead by recommitting to their Paris climate pledges, while here at home many forward looking states are already moving ahead with policies to implement the Clean Power Plan and are prepared to capitalize on the global clean energy transition. Americans broadly support climate solutions because they want to protect our children’s health and provide them a safe planet to call home.”
