LCV Statement on the Delivery of Over 700,000 Comments Supporting Clean Water Rule

Oct 22, 2014

WASHINGTON DC — The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Senior Vice President for Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld released this statement on today’s delivery of over 700,000 comments supporting the Army Corps of Engineers and Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Water Rule, which clarifies Clean Water Act protections for small streams and wetlands:

“Today’s delivery of over 700,000 comments is a clear message to the EPA and the Army Corps that Americans support this proposal. The Clean Water Rule has the support of environmentalists, sportsmen, and small business owners because they understand the importance of protecting the small streams and wetlands that impact the drinking water of 117 million Americans and serve as crucial habitat for wildlife. This is a wakeup call to polluters and their allies in Congress opposing this rule that Americans are demanding clean water now and for all future generations.”
