Washington, DC – Tomorrow, America’s best parks program – the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) – will expire after 50 years of overwhelming success. In anticipation of the expiration, LCV President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:
“This is a major blow to conservation efforts around the country and to America’s outdoor recreation future. There is clear bipartisan support in the House and the Senate to reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund today and continue protecting our special places for future generations. We need the ideological roadblocks in Congress, like Representative Rob Bishop, to stand aside and allow Congress to fully reauthorize America’s most successful conservation program at the next available opportunity.”
