LCV Statement on the Fifth GOP Debate

Dec 15, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight, CNN hosted the fifth GOP presidential primary debate. In response, LCV National Press Secretary Seth Stein issued the following statement:

“Tonight, the global threat of climate change was not addressed once. In a debate focused on security and foreign policy, CNN missed a huge opportunity to discuss the historic international agreement on climate change reached just days ago. The Republican candidates showed that they lack leadership by completely ignoring the national security impacts of climate change that our own Department of Defense has highlighted.  At the UN Summit in Paris, President Obama and the U.S. led the world in coming to agreement in the global fight against climate change.  It is imperative that we elect a climate champion like Secretary Clinton to continue that legacy.”
