LCV Statement on the Interior-EPA Appropriations Bills

Jun 14, 2016

Washington, D.C. – In response to the Interior-EPA Appropriations bills making their way through the House and Senate Appropriations Committees, LCV Deputy Legislative Director Alex Taurel issued the following statement:

“Republican leaders are hijacking the appropriations process to sneak in anti-environmental policy riders.  Attacks on the Clean Water Rule, climate action, clean air protections, endangered species, and our public lands—among other anti-environmental policy riders—simply have no place in spending bills.  We need a clean budget that moves our country forward and fully funds the environmental safeguards that protect our air, water, lands and wildlife.  That’s why we urge members of Congress to remove harmful ideological riders from the Interior and Environment Appropriations Bills and vote against any further attempts to inappropriately load up these spending bills with poison-pill provisions.”
