LCV Statement on the Publication of the Clean Power Plan in the Federal Register

Oct 22, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC – Tomorrow, the EPA’s Clean Power Plan is expected to be published in the Federal Register, officially putting in place the first-ever national limits on the carbon pollution from power plants. In response, LCV Vice President of Government Affairs Sara Chieffo issued the following statement:

“This is great news and it’s time to get to the work of reducing carbon pollution. The Clean Power Plan is widely popular, protects the health of our families, combats climate change, and grows the economy. Since it was formally announced in August, we have seen a broad and diverse set of stakeholders—including utilities, public health experts, clean energy advocates and others—embrace these first-ever national carbon pollution limits on power plans. As the eyes of the world turn towards the international climate summit in Paris, these historic safeguards are a critical part of the global movement to act on climate change. Undoubtedly, tomorrow’s publication of the rule in the federal register will lead to a mad rush by polluters and their allies in Congress to use both legislative and legal maneuvers to block the Clean Power Plan, but it’s time to move on—the American people are tired of these political fights.”
