LCV Statement on the Release of the Draft Technical Assessment Report

Jul 18, 2016

Washington, D.C. – In response to the release of the Draft Technical Assessment Report (TAR) of fuel economy standards and greenhouse gas emissions of light trucks and cars by the Environmental Protection Agency, US Department of Transportation and California’s Air Resources Board, LCV Vice President for Government Affairs Sara Chieffo issued the following statement:

“Today’s report shows that we are well on our way to meeting the landmark fuel economy and carbon pollution standards put in place in 2012. These critical standards save American families money, reduce fossil fuel consumption and help us fight climate change. The transportation sector is one of the largest sources of the pollution fueling climate change and it is clear that we must not only keep these standards in place, but we should continue building upon them. We will continue working with stakeholders in the midterm review process to ensure that no loopholes are added that could undermine their success.”
