LCV Statement on the Republican Climate Change Resolution

Sep 17, 2015

Washington, DC – Rep. Chris Gibson (R, NY-19) and ten other Republican representatives today introduced a resolution calling on the House to commit to working on climate change solutions.  In response, LCV Director of Local and Bipartisan Strategies John Reuter issued the following statement:

“We are encouraged by this small but noteworthy step taken by these Republican lawmakers to raise their hands and say they want to be part of the solution to climate change—the greatest challenge of our time.  By sponsoring this resolution, these representatives are more closely aligning themselves with the majority of Americans, including Republicans, who strongly support action to reduce carbon pollution and promote clean energy. We look forward to engaging these representatives by encouraging them to follow-up on this first step by supporting reductions in carbon pollution to slow climate change and opposing efforts to block or delay the Clean Power Plan.”
