Washington, DC – In response to reports that the Trump campaign has said that oil industry executive Forrest Lucas, co-founder of oil product company Lucas Oil, is on the short list for appointment as Secretary of the Interior, LCV National Campaigns Director Clay Schroers issued the following statement:

“It’s unfortunately of no surprise that Trump would consider handing the Interior Department over to an oil executive. Under a Trump presidency, any threat to Big Polluters’ profits – like the health of our families, our clean air and water, and the opportunity to meet the challenge of climate change – would be at the mercy of the dirty fossil fuel industry. With his cut-and-paste energy policy, Trump has again shown he completely lacks the judgement, character and temperament for the White House.”
