Washington, D.C. – In response to Trump’s statements to the New York Times that he is keeping an “open mind” on the Paris climate agreement, LCV Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld issued the following statement:
“Hopefully, Trump really will keep an ‘open mind’ on the Paris climate agreement, which is an enormous step forward in the global battle to address the devastating impacts of climate change. President Obama and his administration helped bring the world together to put the pact into action. It would be extremely dangerous to reverse this historic and popular progress on climate change, which enjoys overwhelming support from the public and business community. We call on Donald Trump – who has denied the reality of climate change, and whose transition team is dominated by Big Polluters and their allies – to listen to the families, children and businesses who are negatively impacted by climate change and choose to keep moving our country ahead, not backwards.”
